Need Some Help with Insect Control?

Our bug control services can help you eliminate all kinds of bugs from your home or business in Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren Counties in northern NJ.

Every year there seems to be an infestation problem with a different type of bug. In 2009, it was stink bugs. Next year it may be ants or wasps or some other type of insect pest. Insect control is as unique as the number of varying species of bugs and requires the knowledge of a bug control specialist like Humphrey’s. We have an entomologist on staff and our exterminators undergo rigorous training and education in various insect control measures like the use of insecticides.

Here are some of the common types of bugs in NJ that may require the use of an insect control specialist:

  • Brown Recluse Spiders are tan with a dark brown, fiddle-shaped marking on their cephalothorax. They are fairly small spiders (only reaching ¼ to ½ of an inch in length) and are typically found outside in debris, wood piles, or under bark, stones or logs. When indoors, they are usually in storage areas such as closets or attics. Bites to humans generally occur when a spider gets into shoes or clothing or crawls into bedding. Brown recluse spider venom causes necrosis, or tissue death, at the site of the bite.
  • Stink Bugs – The Brown Marmorated Stinkbug was recently introduced into the US from Asia and with each passing year has become more of a problem in New Jersey. Humphreys’ Stinkbug treatment plan has proven to be very effective. Using a combination of exclusion and IPM we have been successful in controlling this problem.
  • Yellow Jackets, Wasps and Hornets are all stinging insects that nest in wall voids, attics, trees and shrubs or in the ground. They are social insects and have a worker caste that cares for the young and forages for food. Special care must be taken during removal to eliminate not only these insects but also their nest.
  • House Ants, Pharaoh Ants, Pavement Ants and Crazy Ants are related to wasps and bees. They have a pinched waist and elbowed antennae. They also may have a modified ovipositor, or stinger that can allow the ant to inject venom. Ants are primarily beneficial insects and help recycle decaying organic matter. Control of ants can be accomplished with many different types of treatments like the use of ant baits or insecticides.
